Where the headland reaches into the turquoise waters of the bay - Kookaburra dreaming. It's where the snake is fighting with the bird. The cry of the forest is heard afar. There is a latticed bloom laid on the sand near twin pools of fresh and saltwater. Leaves and spinifex shoots pay obedience to the fallen giant.

This painting summarises the plight of the coastal forests of Callala Bay, affected by sea-level rise. We see the toppled Banksia clutching the sun, its trunk undercut by the tides. A rose-amber eye casts the vision, even as shaken leaves fly. The luminous eye sees back to origins, perhaps to calamities of old. Its lament makes a stream of clear water flow, only to be swallowed by the sea again. Is it simply the cycle of life - symbolised by the diamond poised between the sun and the cloud? It seems that wisdom will not prevail, cannot lift the tree back into the forest.
